NAIDOC Week is an annual celebration that honors the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It typically takes place in the first full week of July and is a time for all Australians to learn about, appreciate, and engage with Indigenous cultures and traditions. Incorporating NAIDOC Week into early learning settings is a valuable way to introduce young children to the diverse cultures and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Educators can incorporate NAIDOC Week through a variety of activities, such as storytelling sessions featuring Dreamtime stories, inviting local Indigenous community members to share their knowledge and experiences, exploring Indigenous art and symbols through art and play, learning about traditional music and dance, and invitations to play and sensory set up's with authentic NAIDOC resources. *Above play set up is from Kirsty's Family Daycare, using some of our resources.
