Here is a general guideline (please note more advanced children can do more pieces): Ages 1–2: simple wooden or chunky knob puzzles, Ages 2–3: 4–12 pieces, Ages 3–4: 12–36 pieces, Ages 4–5: 36–60 pieces, Ages 5–6: 60–100 pieces, Ages 6–7: 100–200 pieces, Ages 7+: 200+ pieces.
